Scouts choose Omnica as part of plan to ramp up online sales

The Scout Association is ramping up and restructuring its growing online activities, which include Scout Shops (www.scoutshops.com) and the Outdoors brand (www.outdoors.co.uk), and at the same time introducing a common stock management system across web sites, catalogues and deliveries to high-street stockists.

Scout Shops, the organisation's trading arm, has chosen Omnica MCR multi-channel fulfilment system for the task, along with the Microsoft Dynamics AX platform it runs on. It will be renewing both of its web sites, and rolling out the system to its call centre and warehouse, and in all purchasing and administration functions.

The system will also be integrated with membership management systems already in use at the Association.

According to Mark Selwyn, Scouts' project manager, Omnica demonstrated a good all-round combination of functionality and experience. David Markwell, Scout Shops managing director, says the new system 'will allow us to scale up our web site business, and through greater efficiency, enhance our contribution to the Scouting movement.'

The business sells a wide range of uniforms, collectibles, outdoor clothing and camping equipment to Scout Association members, parents and official stockists.
