Real-time mapping adds new dimension to visibility system

'Supply-chain visibility' is given a new meaning in the latest product to emerge from the stable of Manhattan Associates. The company has added a system called Field Vision to its Extended Enterprise Management solution, introducing a 'birds-eye view' mapping facility to the product.

EEM already aims to show the whereabouts of items in the supply chain, but the new system allows users to see orders, shipments and inventory in a geographical context. The mapping element is delivered by courtesy of Microsoft Bing.

EEM aims to offer end-to-end visibility of orders, shipments and inventory from sourcing to delivery, along with the ability to track and monitor supply chain events in real time. The information is delivered via a web browser, helping to automate customer communications.
