Axminister upgrades with Paragon
![]() Axminster Tool Centre, a specialist in mail order tools and machinery, says it has 'revolutionised' its home delivery operation by introducing the real-time Fleet Controller solution from Paragon. Many of the company's 1,000 daily orders require some form of special handling and positioning at customers' own homes or business premises, so the company attaches great importance to delivery planning. It says the Paragon system not only allows accurate delivery windows to be allocated to each customer on the basis of the products being handled, but also enables staff to monitor deliveries in real time, and take action if problems arise. According to systems director Andrew Parkhouse: 'If a driver is over-running we can quickly find out what the issue is and notify the customer with a revised time of arrival.' Axminster Tool Centre claims to be the leader in its market. Customers range from trade professionals and businesses to amateur DIY and hobby enthusiasts. Its annual catalogue runs to 600 pages, and it lists 15,000 products.
