Telematics advances from Road Tech

Falcon is the brand name adopted by Road Tech Computer Systems for an advanced telematics and vehicle tracking system developed by the company. We understand it will be given a formal launch soon, but it is already in use with selected customers.

Road Tech has offered vehicle tracking for some years, but the new system is more sophisticated in terms of its ability to capture and report on various vehicle and driver functions interactively.

However, Road Tech founder and managing director Derek Beevor maintains that growing numbers of truck operators are relying on digital tachograph data rather than dedicated telematics system for operational analysis. Road Tech’s Tachomaster service analyses this data online, and the company claims it now holds around 60 per cent of its market.

“If you need to know the exact position of your vehicles, you need a tracking function,” Beevor told us, “but if you just want to monitor driver and vehicle performance, a tachograph-based system could be all you need.”
