Truck-specific satnav from Clarion now

Clarion GB is the latest satellite navigation specialist to launch a product aimed specifically at the commercial vehicle market.

The company says that its MAP690TRK CV portable navigation device can take account of bridge height, width and carrying capacity, tunnel height and width, road carrying capacity and water protection and/or hazardous material transportation limitations.

It also has some other useful features, including “trip assistance tools” that can take account of loading and waiting times at pre-determined stops when calculating the ETA.

You can enter up to three different vehicle profiles, allowing drivers to switch vehicle types without entering new information, and you can set it up for cars as well.

Another clever feature is the 3D rendering of buildings. Those close to the driver appear see-through, whilst buildings further away are textured and solid, making them more useful as reference points.
